How to get or find the Siret number of an association?

An association does not necessarily have a Siret number from its inception. However, it necessarily obtains one
- it carries out activities which require registration in the national register of companies and establishments, in particular economic activities,
- or if it employs employees.
Where the conditions for registration are met, the information shall be transmitted to theInsee: titleContent, which registers the association in the Sirene directory and assigns it a Siren number and, if the situation arises, one or more Siret numbers corresponding to its establishments.
An association must apply for registration in the national directory of companies and establishments, also known as the directory Sirene: titleContent, when it completes at least one the following conditions:
- She wants to apply for public subsidies
- It is considering employing employees
- It carries out activities which lead to the payment of the TVA: titleContent or business tax.
The association shall be awarded a Siren number (9 digit number).
The number Siren identifies the association as a legal entity.
Where there are establishments, each establishment shall also be allocated a Siret number (14-digit number).
The number Siret identifies each of the association's establishments. It is composed of the Siren number followed by an internal classification number (NIC).

Registering an association to the Sirene directory
The application must be accompanied by cerfa M0 Asso nr. 15909, a copy of the extract published in JOAFE: titleContent and a copy of the articles of association.
The association receives a certificate of registration to keep. A duplicate shall not be issued in the event of loss.
Next, the association must declare to the Sirene Association of the Insee any change concerning its name, its object, its activities, the address of its headquarters or its establishments (opening, closing, moving). The Insee shall, if necessary, modify the Siret number(s). One specific form concerning the application and a copy of the official document attesting to the change must be attached to the declaration.

Registration is to be made on the site https://www.cfe.urssaf.fr (or by mail or postal mail to Urssaf: titleContent on which the seat of the association depends).

The association carries out activities that result in the payment of the TVA or business tax
General scenario
Registration must be made by email or post to the company tax department (SIE) of the DGFIP: titleContent on which depends the headquarters of the association.

Registration is to be requested, by mail or post, to the company tax department (SIE) of the DGFIP: titleContent on which depends the headquarters of the association.
Declaration relating to an association (M0 ASSO)
The application must be accompanied by cerfa M0 Asso nr. 15909, a copy of the registration receipt in the register of associations and a copy of the statutes.
The EIS shall forward the request to the Insee, which shall enter the application in the register and assign the identification number. The association receives a certificate of registration to keep. A duplicate shall not be issued in the event of loss.
Next, the association must declare, in the same way, to the SIE, any change concerning its name, its object, its activities, the address of its head office or its establishments (opening, closing, moving). The Insee shall, if necessary, modify the Siret number(s). One specific form concerning his application and a copy of the official document attesting to the change must be attached to the declaration.
Since 15 September 2022, Insee no longer issues a certificate of registration to the Sirene directory.
Once the registration has been completed, the association can download a situation report free of charge to the Sirene directory, which includes its Siren number and its Siret number(s).
The Siren number and the Siret number(s) of a registered association can be consulted free of charge on the company Directory. They can also be consulted in the Sirene directory of the Insee.
If the association is registered, you can also download a free status notice from the Sirene directory. The notice provides proof of registration, including Siren and Siret numbers.
