Identity card / Passport: what proof of residence for a minor?

To apply for a minor's identity card or passport, you must provide proof of residence less than one year old. The document to be submitted varies depending on whether the parents live together or are separated:

Parents live together

If the child lives with his or her 2 parents, the proof of domicile must be provided by one of his parents.

You have proof of residence in your name

If the address has not been verified by the device Address Rationale when pre-applying online, you must provide a proof of domicile dated less than one year on the date of submission of the application.

It must include first and last names of the parent making the request.

You live with a relative (relative, friend...)

We need to introduce the Next 3 documents :

  • Identity document of the person hosting (photocopy only)
  • Attestation on the honor of the accommodation dated, signed and certifying a stable residence or more than 3 months (original)
  • Proof of residence of less than one year of the host (original).

FYI  

No other documents should be required.

You are homeless or homeless (homeless)

It is possible, under certain conditions, of éread home with one of the following:

  • Organization approved by the prefect. These may be, for example, humanitarian organizations carrying out actions against exclusion or for access to care (French Red Cross, Catholic Relief, Emmaus, etc.). The list of approved structures may be communicated by the City Hall
  • Communal (or inter-communal) Social Action Center (CCAS or CIAS).

The name of the organization is not on the ID. Only his address will be indicated.

You live in a hotel

We need to introduce the Next 2 documents :

  • Acknowledgement of accommodation from the hotel manager or manager
  • Official document in your name indicating the same address (driving license, tax notice, vital attestation, pension entitlement, family allowance entitlement, document from France Travail).
You live in a trailer

We need to introduce the Next 2 documents :

  • Deed of ownership of the land or lease contract
  • Official document in your name with the same address.

Please note

In the absence of domicile (or residence) for more than six months (e.g. Travelers), a certificate of address for service must be provided.

The parents are separated

The proof to be produced depends on the mode of custody: habitual residence with a single parent or alternating custody.

Fixed habitual residence in one of the parents

If the child usually lives with one of the parents and the address has not been verified by the device Address Rationale when pre-applying online, you must provide a proof of domicile dated less than one year on the date of submission of the application.

The proof must include first and last names the parent with whom the child has his or her habitual residence.

FYI  

Each parent with parental authority may apply for the child's identity document. However, if the application is made by the parent with whom the child does not normally reside, he or she must provide proof of the other parent's domicile.

Alternate custody

If the address has not been verified by the device Address Rationale when pre-applying online, you must provide a proof of domicile dated less than one year on the date of submission of the application.

It must include first and last names of the parent making the request.

In the case of alternate custody, it is possible to mention the two addresses of the minor on the identity document. In this case, the following shall be submitted:

  • Proof of alternate residence (agreement between the parents or decision of the judge)
  • And 2 proof of domicile (one for every parent).

Warning  

If proof of alternate residence is not provided, the identity document will be established only with the address provided by the parent who files the application.
