Driver's license application: what proof of residence?

To apply for a driver's license, you must prove your residence in France.

You can use Justif' Address or provide a proof of address.

Justif' Address is a device which makes it possible to produce a automatic address verification which you entered during an online procedure. The use of Justif' Address is free of charge. You can use Justif' Address if you meet the following conditions:

  • Your home is in Metropolitan France or in the DROM.
  • You have a subscription or an energy bill to your birth name.
  • You use one of the following energy suppliers: EDF (SEI in DROMs), Engie of which Gas Regulated Tariff, Total Direct Energies.

  • Invoice dated less than 6 months of water, electricity, gas, or landline or mobile phone. Photocopy of an electronic invoice is accepted.

  • Rent receipt. A rent receipt is accepted if it is not handwritten and does not come from an individual.

You must provide the following 3 documents:

  • Certification on honor the person who is hosting you, dated and signed by both of you
  • Copy of the identity document of the person hosting you

You must provide the following 2 documents:
