The national file of bank accounts and similar (Ficoba) lists the safes rented in France and all bank accounts opened in France: current accounts, savings accounts, securities accounts, etc. We explain who can access it, how to request it and what steps you must follow to correct the information in the file.
Ficoba is a national file managed by the Directorate-General for Public Finance.
Ficoba lists all the safes and bank accounts opened in France: current accounts, savings accounts, securities accountsetc.
This file is obligatory fed by financial institutions in connection with any opening, modification or closing of an account or safe.
Ficoba contains the following information:
- Name and address of the bank that manages the account or safe
- Identity of account holder(s) or safe deposit box tenant(s) (surname, first names, date and place of birth, address)
- Essential characteristics of the account or safe deposit box: number, nature (current account, savings account ...) type of account (single, joint, undivided ...) term of rental of the safe deposit box
- Date and nature of the transaction reported (opening, closing, modification of the account or its holder).
Ficoba does not contain the details of the transactions carried out on the account, nor the balance of the account.
FYI
If a person has a mandate to act on the account or the safe in place of its holder, the bank also declares to Ficoba the identity of the agent. For example, if the account belongs to a minor, the identity of his legal representative will be declared on Ficoba. The identity of the agent of a protected major will also be declared in Ficoba.
No, you cannot object to the registration of your accounts in the Ficoba file.
Banks have an obligation to update Ficoba within 7 days any opening, modification or closing of an account or safe.
The information is kept in Ficoba for the entire life of the account and 10 years after its closure.
You can ask Ficoba to check the list of your accounts opened in France in different banks. Ficoba can help you find an old account.
An account that has been inactive for many years can be closed by the bank that transfers the funds to the Caisse des dépôts et consignations. For recover funds from an inactive account you need to do a search on the Ciclade website.
Ficoba may be useful if you suspectimpersonation of your identity, to verify that no account has been opened in your name for you.
The following people can access the file:
- The account holder
- The legal representative of the minor child holding the account
- The agent authorized to act on behalf of the account holder: e.g. curator or the guardian
- One of the heirs of the account holder.
Other people and organizations also have access to Ficoba. These include the tax administration, judicial police officers, certain judges, notaries in charge of a succession, judicial commissioners (formerly judicial bailiff and judicial auctioneer) and certain police officers. Caf: titleContent.
Yes, the request for access to Ficoba is free of charge.
But you may have to pay a fee for any supporting documents (copying fees) if you interview Ficoba for someone other than yourself or your minor child.

Bank account in your name
You must address your online application at the personal income tax department of your home.
Log in to your Public Finance area on the site impots.gouv.fr. Go to the « Other services » section. Then choose the module « I want to access the list of accounts opened in my name ».
Bank account of your minor child
You must address your online application at the personal income tax department of your home.

As the minor's legal representative, you must download and attach a full copy of your family record book. If you are questioning Ficoba for several children, you must make one request per child and each time attach the complete family booklet.
Bank account of a protected person you represent
This concerns the request for the bank account of a person who is no longer able to express his will in particular in the context of guardianship, curatorship, safeguarding of justice, family empowerment, future protection mandate implemented.
You must address your request exclusively by post at the FBFV National Treatment Center.
You must attach to your mail a proof of identity in your name, as well as a copy of the document that justifies your power over the accounts of the person you represent.

Bank account of a deceased person you inherit
You must address your request exclusively by post at the FBFV National Treatment Center.
You must attach to your mail:
- A copy of the death certificate
- Proof of your identity
- And a document proving you're an heir.

Other requests
This relates to the application for the bank account of a person who has specifically mandated another person to represent him or her. For example, the representative of a undivided between several people.
This also applies to the request for access to the list of accounts of a company or association.

If the transmitted data are false, you can exercise your right of rectification. To do so, you must send the bank concerned the documents necessary for the rectification (for example: death certificate of the account holder).
