Theft of the residence card of a European or a member of his family

Your residence card UE citizen/EEE/Switzerland or family member of a Union/EEE/Swiss citizen was it stolen? If you are European, the procedures are optional. If you are a non-European family member, the procedures are mandatory. In any case, you are advised to make a flight declaration. We provide an update on the regulations.
European
The approach is different depending on whether the flight took place in France or abroad:

The theft of the residence card took place in France
You must make your declaration of theft at the police station or gendarmerie of the place where the theft was committed.
A receipt is given.
The theft of the residence card took place abroad
You must file your theft report with the local police authorities and the nearest consulate.
A receipt is given.
Who shall I contact
You must make your request for duplicate on the internet
An application for a duplicate will result in the invalidity of the original residence card. This procedure is final. If you find your residence card after the request for duplicate, it will be necessary to come and collect your new residence card.
You must provide the following:
- Theft declaration receipt of your residence card
- Valid passport
- Photocopy of your stolen card (if you have kept one)
- Indication concerning your home (provided by any means)
- e-photo : enter the e-photo code (provided by the photographer or the authorized booth on the photo board). If you don't have an e-photo yet, you can locate a digital photo and signature service.
Issuance of the duplicate is free of charge.
Non-European family member
