Termination of contract: documents to be given to the employee

Verified 24 February 2026 - Public Service / Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

On the occasion of the termination of the employee's employment contract or at the end of his employment contract, the employer shall provide the employee with termination documents. The employer shall make available to the employee in the company a work certificate, one balance of any account, a attestation France travail and a state summary of employee savings if the device exists in the company. When should the employer make these documents available to the employee? We're taking a look at the regulations.

The employer must provide the employee, regardless of the method of termination or the end of the employment contract, with the following documents:

No. The employer has no obligation to send end-of-contract documents to the employee.

Termination documents are documents querulous, i.e. the employer must make them available to the employee in the company.

The employer must keep the end-of-contract documents available to the employee from the end of the employment contract, i.e. at the end of the advance notice even if notice is not given.

FYI

Where notice is not given, the employer may give the termination documents as soon as the employee of the company has actually left.
