How do I get an individual alignment order?

You are proprietor and you're looking at doing roadside works. So you need to know the limit between the public road and your property (land, garden ...). To do this, you need to request a individual alignment order. We present you with the information you need to know.

Step-by-step approach

You must apply for an individual alignment order depending on whether your work is on the roadside or on a rural road:

Boundary with a public road

When your work (e.g. fencing) are in the public domain and if the municipality does not have alignment plane, you must request an individual alignment order.

The surveyor-expert shall be responsible for drawing up the parcel plan annexed to the individual alignment order.

Warning  

Individual alignment does not exempt you from request city planning permissions necessary, for example the preliminary declaration of works or the building permit in case of extension of your property or fencing.

Boundary with a rural road

The alignment procedure does not concern rural roads, because they are not in the public domain.

There are 2 ways to know the boundary between your property and a rural road:

  • The parcel plan annexed to the municipal council deliberation determining the opening or the alteration limits rural road
  • The bounding between the owner of the neighboring land and yourself at shared cost.

Your mail must include the information following:

  • Description of your planned works
  • Address of your property.
