Verified 01 June 2026 - Public Service / Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)
The child-rearing allowance for disabled children (AEEH) is a financial aid intended to compensate for your expenses related to your child's disability situation under 20 years of age. The AEEH is paid to parents in some cases, it may be supplemented by other allowances. We present you the information to know.
The child-rearing allowance for disabled children (AEEH) helps you pay for expenses related to your child's disability. In particular, it may cover:
- Monthly expenses related to care, education,...
- The need to hire someone to take care of your child
- Reducing or stopping your professional activity to ensure the care of your child.
When your child's disability incurs particularly large expenses, a complement to the AEEH can be assigned. To determine this supplement, the Commission for the Rights for the Autonomy of Persons with Disabilities (CDAPH), within the departmental house of persons with disabilities (MDPH), classifies your child's disability in category (from 1 to 6).
In addition, if you are a single parent, you may also receive a specific mark-up.
To receive the AEEH, your child must complete all of the following conditions :
- Be under 20 years of age
- Have a disability rate of at least 80%. This rate may be between 50% and less than 80% if your child is accompanied by a medico-social institution or service, an adapted schooling system, care and/or rehabilitation related to his disability, recommended by the CDAPH.
- Do not receive professional income greater than 55% the gross monthly minimum wage, or €1,026.86
- Reside permanently on the national territory.
