Does an employee of the private employer or a childminder receive medical follow-up?

Verified 12 August 2026 - Public Service / (Prime Minister)

Yes, an employee of the individual employer or a childminder shall receive medical follow-up.

In particular, they must benefit from the following medical visits:

The social partners in the sector of private employers and home employment have set up a national occupational health and prevention service (SPSTN). The latter is responsible for meeting the needs of prevention of occupational risks and medical follow-up of the employees of the particular employer.

Medical follow-up is provided by the SPSTN. It is no longer the individual employer who has to sign up for an occupational health and prevention service. The employer mandates the National Joint Information and Innovation Association (NJIA) to join the NTSPS on its behalf and on its behalf.

The employee, his employer or a health professional can contact the SPSTN to organize a medical visit. The time spent by the employee during some of these medical visits is compensated by APNI on a flat-rate basis. The employer does not have to maintain the salary, nor does it have to cover the expenses incurred by the employee.

The individual employer finances this scheme by paying a contribution for health at work. It is calculated on the gross salary subject to social contributions of the employee. It is fixed at 2.7% of the declared gross monthly salary, up to a ceiling set at €5 by pay slip for each month worked.

Please note

The individual employer who had joined before 1er January 2025 at a prevention and occupational health service must contact the SPSTN to ensure continuity in the medical follow-up of the employee.
