Disabled adults' allowance: the way you report your income changes in some cases

Publié le 14 octobre 2026 - Public Service / (Prime Minister)

If you work in an establishment and service d'accompagnement par le travail (Ésat), you must now make a quarterly declaration of resources, for the calculation of the amount of your allowance for adults with disabilities. Public Service introduces you to the new procedure.

The Adult Disability Allowance (AAH) guarantees persons with disabilities a minimum income to cover their daily expenses. It is paid to people with little or no financial resources.

Until then, as part of the AAH payment, income from professional activities carried out in an establishment and service of accompaniment through work (Ésat) were collected annually, directly from the French public finances general directorate. In most cases, people with disabilities, or their guardians, did not have to make a declaration of resources.

Since 1er in october 2026, persons with disabilities, or their guardians, must file a quarterly income tax return.

This statement is used to calculate the amount of AAH paid for the next 3 months.

Please note

If you benefit from the activity premium, in addition to the AAH, you must complete a separate quarterly income tax return for each of these benefits.

How do you file your quarterly AAH income tax return?

Now, every 3 months, you must:

  • sign in to your « My Account » space on the website caf.fr, or go to your mobile application « Caf – My Account »;
  • click on the message « adult disability allowance » that appears in your « my alerts » area (you will then arrive on your quarterly income tax return page);
  • click on « start »;
  • validate or modify your profile (family situation, address, bank details, etc.);
  • declare all income you received during the previous 3 months (the remuneration paid to you by the State, and if applicable your Social Security benefits, your alimony and any other income). Amounts must be reported as « net taxable » (this amount is written at the bottom of your payslip).

This new procedure is being implemented gradually, between October and December 2026.

Your Caf must tell you, by mail or email, the month in which you must make your first tax return (in October, November or December).

Then, every 3 months, the Caf sends you an email or SMS message to inform you that you must make your declaration.

You can find more information on the procedure to be performed within the Caf tutorial « How to make your quarterly declaration of AAH assets on the internet? ».

Please note

It is also possible to carry out the procedure via a paper resource declaration form.
