Why new tickets?

The ECB is preparing a new series of banknotes to enhance their security, improve their accessibility and reduce their environmental impact. Current tickets will remain valid and will continue to circulate for several years.

What themes have been chosen?

The European Central Bank has presented ten proposals for a complete set of new banknotes – 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 euros – 2 themes have been selected:

• european culture ;
• rivers and birds, which highlight Europe's natural wealth.

How to participate?

You have until September 21, 2026 to take part in the consultation, simply visit the online platform set up by the ECB and give your opinion on the selected graphic proposals. The questionnaire only takes a few minutes.

The results of the consultation will be taken into account by the ECB when selecting future euro banknotes. The final decision is expected by the end of 2026.
