Abolishment of APL for non-scholarship students from 1 July 2026

A decree published in Official journal of the French Republic of 28 June 2026 amends the conditions for access to personalized housing assistance (APL) for certain foreigner students.

From July 1, 2026, students who are nationals of countries outside the (UE), outside the (EEE) and outside Switzerland, can no longer benefit from APL if they do not hold a scholarship on social criteria.

Students pursuing a professional activity or engaged in an apprenticeship or professionalization contract may be eligible for this aid.

Please note

Refugee, stateless and spouses of non-EU students continue to benefit from LPA.
