From July 2026, a new service is being rolled out in transport in Île-de-France: ticket purchase terminals by credit card. The system is already in place on some bus lines in Paris, in the inner suburbs and in the provinces. It should facilitate travel for very occasional users.

The operator Île-de-France Mobilités is continuing to roll out kiosks for purchasing on-board access tickets by credit card, initiated in 2025.

The « validator » is a troubleshooting solution to buy a ticket when you board. It is in addition to the other purchasing methods offered to Francilians (IDF Mobilités application, wallets, Navigo Easy). And it facilitates access to transport for tourists without tickets or passes (48% of tourists buy their tickets from distributors).

How does the purchase of tickets on the terminal work?

  • Present your contactless credit card in front of the terminal. Hold it until the green light indicates that your purchase is validated.
  • The same credit card may be used for the purchase of several tickets in case of group travel, within the limit of 4 people per card. Wait 2 seconds between each purchase before replaying your credit card.
  • You can obtain your proof of purchase by scanning the QR code displayed on the terminal. In the event of a check, your credit card serves as proof of purchase.

Warning

Your ticket is valid for 1 hour on the line where you bought it with your credit card.

What pricing on credit card terminals?

The prices of tickets via the purchase terminals are as follows:

  • Bus/tram/funicular: €2.55 (or + € 0.50 on the classic price);
  • Metro/train/RER: €3.35 (or + € 0.80 on the classic price);
  • Airports: €14.80 (or + € 0.80 on the classic price).

Please note

Connections are not included, regardless of the mode of transport.
