Application for identity card or passport: change in the accepted proof of residence

When applying for a passport or identity card, you must provide:

• an identity photo less than 6 months old, conforms to standards ;
• the identity card or passport, if it is a renewal;
• the pre-application number and/or QR code obtained at the end of the process, if you have made a pre-application;
• proof of residence of less than one year.

Currently, and provisionally, your tax or non-tax notice is not accepted as proof of domicile. You can submit one of the following documents:

• a landline or mobile phone bill;
• an electricity or gas bill;
• a rent receipt issued by a real estate agency or social organization;
• a title deed;
• a statement from the Family Allowance Fund (Caf) mentioning housing-related assistance;
• a water bill;
• the certificate or insurance bill for your home.

This document must be made out in your name (it must include your first name and surname).

If you live with a relative (friend, relative, etc.), you must submit the following 3 documents:

• a photocopy of an identity document of the relative in question;
• one attestation on the honor of the person hosting you (dated and signed), in which it certifies that you have lived with it on a stable basis or for more than 3 months;
• proof of residence of less than one year in the name of your host (the original document).
