A new obligation to display in gyms

Physical or sporting activity establishments (private or public) will soon be obliged to inform their clients of the prevention, reporting and support mechanisms for victims (or witnesses) of violence or discrimination.

The decree of 16 May 2025 incorporates the obligation for physical activity or sports establishments to post in a “place visible to all” information on the devices enabling collect reports,orient andaccompany persons who consider victims or witnesses of situations “likely” to be qualified as physical or moral violence or situations of abuse.

The objective of this mandatory display is to prevent and better combat acts of violence and discrimination that may take place in establishments that welcome the public and in the context of physical or sporting activities.

The institutions concerned must comply with this obligation from 19 november 2025.

What are the display methods?

The display must mandatory enter the contact details:

  • of Signal-sports, the national unit for handling reports of violence in sport;
  • support mechanisms for victims or witnesses of physical, psychological or psychological violence.

It must be carried out on paper in a “place visible to all” and A3 format (297 x 420 mm). This is one of these 2 models downloadable :

Reminder

Physical and sporting establishments must also display a copy in a place visible to all:

  • the diplomas and qualifications of the persons practicing in the institution;
  • professional cards of the persons practicing in the establishment (or trainee certificates where applicable);
  • texts laying down health and safety guarantees and technical standards applicable to the supervision of physical and sporting activities;
  • the certificate of the insurance contract concluded by the operator of the establishment.

What are the situations of abuse?

The following are situations of abuse:

  • discriminatory language;
  • hazing;
  • right of way situations;
  • complicity and non-denunciation of this type of facts.
