March Blue: A month dedicated to the prevention of colorectal cancer

While colorectal cancer is among the most widespread in France, affecting both men and women, the two organizations want to raise awareness of the importance of screening, which is still too small since 75% of the population concerned do not practice it.

The Blue Mars campaign promotes screening, which is essential for early diagnosis of the disease. It also aims to convey the message around oneself to encourage people to get tested.

What is Immunoassay?

Nearly 95% of colorectal cancers are diagnosed after age 50 in both men and women.

From the age of 50, up to the age of 74, it is possible to benefit for free testing as part of the organized screening program. You receive a letter from the Health Insurance informing you of the steps to be taken.

Screening can be done using immunoassay, which can detect abnormalities before symptoms appear.

This test is recommended every 2 years for people aged 50 to 74.

How to use it?

The test can be done at home. You can first check your eligibility with your doctor or pharmacist (or via a self-questionnaire when ordering online).

You can retrieve the screening kit from the pharmacy with all the necessary information regarding its realization.

You can also order online on the website designed by the Health Insurance and the National Cancer Institute.

The test is easy to do, painless and takes a few minutes. You will then be able to retrieve your results online on the same site, in the space dedicated to consulting the results.

The test can also be done in a doctor's office (your doctor, gynecologist or gastroenterologist).
