0 800 112 112: a number to call you in case of emergency

Since 1er october 2024, if you request an emergency service by telephone, you will be called by 0 800 112 112. Service-Public.fr informs you.

Malaise, fire, injured person, road accident, harassment... have you contacted an emergency number? From now on, you will be contacted again via the 0 800 112 112. This number is free, you will not be charged or overcharged for dropping out. There is no risk in answering this call, it is not spam.

Not to be surprised if it appears on your phone screen, you can add it to your smartphone directory under the name “Emergency Services”; you will know that you can answer with confidence.

There are 12 toll-free emergency numbers:

  • 15 - Samu (Emergency Medical Assistance Service)
  • 17 - Police or gendarmerie
  • 18 - Firefighters
  • 112 - European emergency number
  • 114 - Deaf and hard of hearing emergency number
  • 115 - Social emergencies (Samu social)
  • 119 - Children in danger
  • 116,000 - Missing Children
  • 116 117 - Continuity of ambulatory care
  • 191 - Aeronautical Rescue
  • 196 - Maritime Rescue
  • 197 - Attack alert

FYI  

The 0 800 112 112 does not take an emergency call directly, it is a number that only calls back the applicant.

If you call back 0 800 112 112, a voice message will tell you to call back the traditional emergency service you previously contacted.
