Train travel: what are the rules for your luggage?

Travel by TGV INOUI and Intercités

On board the TGV INOUI and Intercités, the rules for your luggage are as follows:

• up to 2 pieces of luggage per person, with a maximum size of 70 x 90 x 50 cm (suitcase, hiking bag, sports bag, etc.);
• and 1 hand luggage with maximum dimensions of 40 x 30 x 15 cm (backpack, tote bag, handbag, computer bag).

All luggage must be tagged. And the carrier's general instruction is: " You just need to be able to carry all your luggage at once ».

Travelers who do not comply with these instructions are liable to a fine of €50 per item of non-compliant or excess baggage (€150 for baggage that interferes with traffic in the corridors).

In case of special luggage

You can take per person:

• 1 suitcase, large backpack or hiking bag (maximum dimensions of 70 x 90 x 50 cm);
• 1 hand luggage (maximum dimensions of 40 x 30 x 15 cm);
• 1 special luggage (maximum dimensions of 90 x 130 x 50 cm): stroller, folded scooter, foldable wheelchair, nautical board, musical instrument…

Travel in OUIGO and TER

1/ On board OUIGO trains, you have the right to travel with:

• 1 hand luggage not exceeding 40 x 30 x 15 cm;
• 1 cabin luggage not exceeding 55 x 35 x 25 cm.

You are entitled to an additional piece of luggage according to the Ouigo offer chosen.

2/ TERs do not impose conditions on luggage. They must enter the spaces provided. On board most TERs, your bike can travel free of charge, suspended or placed in a space provided for this purpose. These pitches are accessible within the limits of available places, often without reservation.
