Managing a budget, learning banking and insurance tools, understanding economic concepts... In a context of increasing complexity in the financial sector, the government has set up the Educfi system to enlighten the general public on these concepts. On the occasion of its 10e on its anniversary, the program is stepping up its action in favor of young people with the Educfi passport

This passport has been deployed experimentally at the college and as a second professional since 2019. At the beginning of the 2026 school year, it will be generalized to all classes of 4e in college. Experimentation in general and technological high school and reinforcement in the professional path are planned from 2027.

The aim is to introduce future citizens, especially young people, to the management of their personal finances (know how to manage their money and over-indebtedness, plan spending, save, protect themselves against financial scams or deceptive business practices, etc.).

The passport is organized around training sequences providing young people with economic, budgetary and financial skills, and tests. Passports can be issued at any time of the year according to a schedule and procedures specific to each institution. Financial Literacy Week (held in March) can be a great time to organize it.

Some coaching resources and a self-study path are made available to educational teams. All teachers or members of school life can engage in the system, sometimes in collaboration with the school head or manager.

Reminder

The national economic, budgetary and financial education strategy Educfi consists of information or training actions to enable the French to improve their practical knowledge of financial subjects. It has existed since 2016, as have 70 other countries. The Banque de France is the operator responsible for its implementation; it offers awareness-raising activities on the portal My money questions.
