What is meant by hospital hotel ? Healthcare facilities can set up a non-medical accommodation before or after a hospital stay or a treatment session. This applies to you if your health condition does not require hospital accommodation for your care and your home is far from the health facility. The device also exists for pregnant women living more than 45 minutes by car from the nearest establishment.

General case

It is the healthcare institutions that can offer you this accommodation service temporary non-medicalized.

This service is programmed as part of the care pathway.

You must have a medical prescription from a practitioner practicing in this institution.

This service takes place before or after a hospital stay or other treatment session.

This service can be offered to you if your state of health does not justify any of the following :

  • Continuous medical or paramedical monitoring
  • Hospitalization at home
  • Heavy technical medical installation.

However, your health condition must require repeated or specific care for a certain period of time.

Keeping you close to the health facility is necessary to at least one of the following reasons :

  • Your home is located more than an hour's motorized journey from the pick-up location. Accessibility conditions (climate, traffic) are taken into account
  • Temporary inadequacy of the accommodation or environment due to your state of health (example: temporary incompatibility between your state of health and the architecture or accessibility of the home)
  • Geographical or social isolation on your part. This isolation is evaluated taking into account the presence of a close entourage that can be mobilized to accompany you.

The provision of temporary non-medical accommodation is offered only if you are autonomous or if you can be accompanied.

FYI  

Autonomy is assessed on the motor and cognitive levels. In the event of insufficient autonomy, the possibility of mobilizing the presence of accompanying persons in temporary accommodation is taken into account.

The provision of temporary unmedicalized accommodation says hospital hotel may be carried out:

  • Within the health facility
  • In premises identified and distinct from care and hospitalization spaces
  • Outside the healthcare facility in accommodation facilities located close to the facility.

To do this, an agreement with a third party (for example, a hotel provider) can be signed.

This duration may depend on certain specificities.

General case

The provision of temporary accommodation is programmed as part of your care journey.

It may not exceed 3 consecutive nights without intervention. In the presence of an act or service of the establishment from which the prescription originates, the accommodation service may exceed 3 consecutive nights.

The provision of temporary accommodation before or after a hospital stay may not exceed 21 nights in its entirety, excluding hospital stay.

Temporary accommodation in connection with a treatment session (including radiotherapy or chemotherapy)

There is no time limit.

Patient transferred overseas or between overseas and mainland France

There is no time limit.

No care is provided in the temporary non-medical accommodation, by the health facility.

However, there are 3 exceptions:

Your consent:

  • Is collected by any means, including dematerialized
  • Is valid until it has been withdrawn
  • It deals with the temporary and non-medicalized nature of the accommodation and the absence of medical care and supervision by the health institution.

Specificities exist if you are not insured in France.

General case

Funding is provided by the Health Insurance.

You are uninsured in France

You will be charged the fee.

You subsequently request reimbursement of all or part of the costs from your foreigner affiliate organization.

Pregnant women

The establishment first offers this accommodation to women who request it.

It is possible to ask the health facility if it has set up this type of accommodation.

Specificities exist if you live in French Guiana.

General case

This accommodation can be offered if you live in a municipality whose center is more than 45 minutes by car from the nearest establishment.

Accessibility conditions (climate, traffic) may in some cases be taken into account, depending on the expected date of delivery.

This accommodation can be offered if you live in a municipality whose center is more than 45 minutes by car from the nearest establishment.

Accessibility conditions (climate, traffic) can in some cases be taken into account.

Municipalities without road access are considered to be more than 45 minutes away from a maternity hospital.

Specificities exist if you know a pregnancy at risk or reside in Guyana.

General case

This temporary accommodation is for a period of 5 consecutive nights maximum before the expected date of delivery.

The doctor or midwife sets that date.

Please note

For medical reasons, this period can be extended until delivery.

Pregnancy at risk

This accommodation service can be offered throughout the pregnancy.

It is the medical team that decides on its duration, within the limit:

  • 21 nights (consecutive or not)
  • And 23 round trips for the entire pregnancy.
In French Guiana

The medical profession may consider that this benefit can be offered throughout the pregnancy.

For this, you must have a continuous and principal residence in Guyana:

  • More than 6 months at the date of delivery
  • And located more than 45 minutes from an obstetric gynecology unit adapted to his health situation.

No care is provided in the temporary non-medical accommodation, by the health facility.

However, there are 3 exceptions:

It is possible to share your room with one or more companions taking into account the capacity of the accommodation structure.

The provision of temporary non-medical accommodation can be carried out:

  • Within the health facility
  • In premises identified and distinct from care and hospitalization spaces
  • Outside the healthcare facility in accommodation facilities located close to the facility.

Accommodation service

Medicare covers these accommodation costs if you are in any of the following situations :

  • Insured persons
  • Beneficiaries of state medical aid (AME)
  • Beneficiaries of social security in Mayotte
  • Affiliated to a social security scheme of a member country of the European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland or another country in the application of an agreement.

This support is €80 per night.

Transportation costs are covered by the Health Insurance to get to:

  • At this temporary accommodation
  • And prenatal exams done between the 8the and 9e month of pregnancy.

This pick-up is done within the limit of 3 round trips.

The CPAM: titleContent or the MSA: titleContent must give its prior agreement.
