Verified 08 août 2023 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

Your situation

  • The child travels with one of the parents
  • In another country
Edit

If you are traveling with your child, they will have to present different documents depending on the country you are traveling to.

Depending on the requirements of the country, your minor child will have to present:

  • Either a valid individual passport
  • Either a valid individual passport and a visa.

FYI

the family record book cannot be required even if you and your child have a different name.

To find out what documents are required by the country you are traveling to, you can consult travel advice on diplomatie.gouv.fr.

Before departure, it is strongly recommended to consult the embassy or consulate of the country of destination.

FYI

the same rules apply if you are traveling with your baby.
