Whatever the motive, you can not ask for a copy of bulletin n°2 of your criminal record. You can only request the consultation of this document. Bulletin No. 2 of the criminal record is issued only to certain public authorities and employers. Here is the information you need to know.
If you want to know the contents of your criminal record, you can apply for consultation the complete record of your criminal record. This way, you will have access to 3 bulletins (B1, B2 and B3) from your criminal record.
This request must be made by free mail addressed to public prosecutor from the court of your domicile. You must attach a copy of your proof of identity (for example, identity card or passport) to your application.
Who shall I contact
The consultation is done in the premises of the judicial tribunal.
You cannot do not make a photocopy the complete record of your criminal record.

If you are a foreign national, you must attach an identity document and proof of parentage (for example, a birth certificate with parentage) to your application.
The bulletin n°2 of your criminal record can be issued to different public authorities. These include:
- Prefects and public administrations of the State
- Military authorities (for example, your B2 can be issued to them if you apply to join the army)
- Public authorities competent to examine appeals concerning the exercise of electoral rights (right to vote)
- Administrations or bodies responsible for monitoring the exercise of a professional or social activity, in the event of restrictions based on the existence of a criminal conviction or disciplinary sanction. For example, if you wish to become a massage therapist, the departmental counselors of the Order of Massage Physiotherapists can ask for bulletin No. 2 of your criminal record.
- Judges of the Commercial Court responsible for the supervision of the Trade and Companies Register (RCS), for the examination of applications for registration in the RCS or the Special Register of Commercial Agents (RSAC)
- Presidents of departmental councils seized of an application for approval to the adoption of a child
- Competent authorities to receive declarations of candidacy for an election, with the aim of verifying that the candidate has not been sentenced to ineligibility
- State Public Administration for the Police of Weapons and Explosives
- Registration fees on the list of statutory auditors.
Who shall I contact
The B2 of your criminal record can be issued to heads of public or private law bodies who exercise a cultural, educational or social activity with minors.
The employer can apply for your B2 only if he wants to recruit you to a position on which you will (or may be) in contact with minors.
The heads of organizations authorized to consult bulletin n°2 cannot make the request directly with the National Criminal Records Service. They have to go through a specialized administrative authority, according to their sector of activity. For example, the departmental directorate in charge of social cohesion (DDCS).
It is the administrative authority that makes the request to the judicial services and receives the bulletin n°2.
If the extract contains no mention of a conviction, the administrative authority shall forward it to the employer.
Otherwise, the administrative authority only informs the employer that bulletin No. 2 contains a statement of conviction.
In this case, she must tell the manager if the convictions on your criminal record can prevent your hiring.
