Hiring at the end of an internship: what consequences on seniority?

In the event of hiring at the company at the end of an internship carried out during his last year of study, the hired intern can benefit from the advantages linked to seniority.

The conditions vary according to the length of the internship before hiring:

At least 2 months of internship

If the intern is hired at the end of the internship, the duration of the internship shall be taken into account for the opening and calculation of seniority entitlements.

The trainees concerned are those who are undertaking an introductory, training or additional training course and who are not subject to an employment contract.

These include:

  • Students preparing a diploma of technological education
  • Students of IUT
  • Engineering students
  • Students from business and management schools
  • Students preparing for a university degree (bachelor's or master's degree, for example)
  • Pupils from medical and educational centers
  • Student lawyers (not holding the Capa)
  • Students architects
  • Students from hotel schools
  • Nursing students
  • Students in nursing initiation internships in 2e year of medicine or dentistry.

Warning  

This system does not apply to trainees in continuing vocational training or to minors under 16 years of age in observation course in company.

Less than 2 months of internship

The duration of the internship is not taken into account for the opening and calculation of seniority entitlements.

However, treaty provisions more favorable can be put in place.
