Would you like to know how much of the amount of your dental consultations and dental care will be reimbursed? The consultation with the dentist is covered by the Health Insurance up to 60%. Dental care, prostheses and orthodontic treatments are reimbursed, but are subject to special rates. We explain the main amounts to know.

The difference between the amount paid and the amount reimbursed by the Health Insurance can be supported by your complementary health if the contract you have entered into so provides. Ask her about it.

Reimbursement for a consultation with a dental surgeon or a doctor authorized for dental care varies depending on whether the consultation takes place or not. Alsace-Moselle. Indeed, in Alsace-Moselle, the local health insurance scheme provides add-in the general scheme's coverage of health costs.

General case

Consultations, dental care and prosthetic procedures performed by a dental surgeon are covered by the Health Insurance and reimbursed to 60% based on the Conventional rate (Health insurance).

The same procedures performed by a doctor authorized to do dental care (stomatologist, oral surgeon, maxillofacial surgeon) are covered by the Health Insurance 70% on the basis of the liability rate.

At a doctor a flat-rate contribution from €2applies. This participation remains at your expense at each consultation or medical procedure.

The contracted sector 1 doctor applies the rate set by agreement with the Health Insurance, while the contracted sector 2 doctor practices free fees.

Alsace-Moselle

The Alsace and Moselle local health insurance scheme ensures a add-in the general scheme's coverage of health costs.

Thus, doctors' fees are reimbursed to 90% (instead of 70% without the local plan), as well as the fees of dental surgeons (instead of 60%).

Please note

The costs of dental procedures if they are related to a long-term condition (ALD) are supported at 100%.

THEstate medical aid (AME) entitles the patient to 100% of your medical and hospital care within the limits of social security rates.

Dental care includes:

  • Conservative care (scaling, treatment of cavities, devitalization...)
  • And surgical care, extraction type.

They are reimbursed to 60% based on the Conventional rate (Health insurance).

These rates are different when performed on people over 26 years of age or from 1 year to 26 years of age.

As a general rule, you do not have to pay the flat-rate contribution of €2€1But you must pay it if the care is carried out by a doctor (stomatologist, oral surgeon).

When the treatment of caries or devitalization is carried out on a permanent tooth of a child under 13 years of age, the rate is increased by 15.70%.

Refund Terms

Dental prostheses are reimbursed to 60% on the basis of so-called liability tariffs, very often lower than their actual cost (free tariffs).

The dental surgeon or the stomatologist must inform you in advance by means of a written quote that you will sign, possibly, for acceptance.

This estimate shall include, in particular, the following elements:

  • Precise and detailed description of the envisaged treatment and/or materials used
  • Fee amount for salary
  • Amount reimbursed by the Health Insurance.

Dental care performed by a stomatologist is subject to the flat-rate contribution of €2.

Rates and Refunds

The levels of reimbursement of care are different depending on the basket of prosthetic procedures in which they are part. There are 3 baskets:

  • The basket “100% Health” includes crowns, bridges and dentures (dental prostheses) fully reimbursable by compulsory health insurance andsupplementary health insurance, without any further charges for you
  • The basket with controlled rates includes crowns, bridges and dentures (dental prostheses) with price caps. In this case, there may be a chargeable balance of 0 euro at a moderate cost to you depending on the repayment terms provided by its supplementary insurance contract
  • The basket with free rates for the other acts, with a larger balance to be borne. You must inquire about the conditions of refund provided by its supplementary insurance contract.

The Health Insurance website provides an update on price of dental prostheses and their management by the Health Insurance.

Conditions of support

Orthodontic treatments or treatments ODF: titleContent (often called rings) are covered by the Health Insurance provided that:

  • To get theprior agreement from your health insurance fund
  • To begin treatment before 16e birthday.

The dental surgeon or the stomatologist must inform you in advance by means of a written quote that you will sign, possibly, for acceptance.

Ec quotation must include, in particular the following:

  • Accurate and detailed description of the proposed treatment and/or materials used
  • Fee amount for salary
  • Amount reimbursed by the Health Insurance
  • Possible supplements.

FYI  

Exceptionally, children over 16 years of age can benefit from coverage by the Health Insurance for one semester of treatment, before surgery on the jaws. This semester is not renewable.

Request for prior agreement

You first fill out a specific form with your dentist or stomatologist depending on the care prescribed.

You must then send this form to the medical department of your CPAM: titleContent.
