Student with a disability: what is the personalized schooling project (PPS)?

Verified 27 March 2026 - Public Service / Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

The personalized schooling project (PPS) is a document that defines the course of schooling for your child or adolescent with a disability. It specifies in particular the necessary arrangements, the human or material aids and the school orientation. We present you the information to know.

The SPP can be implemented whatever the nature of the establishment where your child is attending school (regular or specialized school).

If your child is a minor, it's up to you or his legal representative to apply for a PPS at the departmental house for people with disabilities (MDPH). However, if your child is over the age of majority, he or she can apply himself or herself.

The request can be made online through an online service, if the MDPH of your residence offers it:

MDPH (AAH, PCH, admission to Ésat, accommodation...) and renewal

You can also make your request by post through a form:

Application or renewal of disability benefits (AAH, PCH, CMI, accommodation...)

You must reach supporting documents mentioned during your online application or on the form.

The documents must be sent (or scanned if you apply online) to the MDPH of your place of residence.

Who shall I contact

If no PPS If no request has been made and the educational team believes it would be necessary, the principal or head teacher will inform you (or the legal representative) when your child is a minor, so that an application can be made. If the child is of legal age, this information is sent directly to your child.

In case of refusal or failure to reply in a 4 months delay on your behalf, that of the legal representative or your child, the academic director of the services of the National Education, acting on the delegation of the rector of academy, informs the MDPH of the situation of your child.

The MDPH then takes over to engage in a dialog with yourself, the legal representative or your child.

It's a Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) MDPH that assesses your child's situation.

The EPE brings together professionals from the health and education sector.

To carry out this assessment, the EPE relies in particular on the observations relating to the needs and skills of your child carried out in a school situation by the school attendance monitoring team. These observations are formalized in a regulatory document called Guide to the assessment of educational compensation needs (GEVA-Sco).

The EPE takes into account the adjustments that can be made to the school environment and the measures already implemented to ensure its education.

The EPE then prepares the WEPP and sends it to the MDPH's Commission on the Rights for the Autonomy of Persons with Disabilities (CDAPH) for its opinion.

The development of the WEPP allows the CDAPH take the following measures that are appropriate for your child's situation:

  • A school orientation that can be individual or collective or in a medico-social institution
  • Allocation of appropriate teaching materials (e.g. computer with appropriate software)
  • The implementation of accompanying measures (such as the intervention of a companion of students with disabilities - AESH, or a special education and home care service - Sessad)
  • Educational arrangements (e.g. part-time schooling, learning adaptation).

The ACP shall be sent in written form to the following persons:

  • À yourself or at legal representative of your child if he is a minor, or directly to your child if he is an adult
  • At director from school or at head of the establishment
  • À the referring teacher of your child designated by the MDPH.

The principal of the school or the head of the institution is responsible for the implementation of the PPS.

Your child's primary teacher watches over to follow-up of the PPS. It is present at all stages of your child's school journey. It provides a permanent link to the MDPH EPR.

If you have questions about your child's education, you must contact your teacher as a priority.

The PPS is updated at least every time change of school cycle (set of several years of teaching) or of school guidance.

It can also be updated at the request of your child if he or she is of age, or, if he or she is a minor, at your request or at the request of his or her legal representative, when his or her the situation is evolving.
