Verified 14 May 2025 - Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

Do you want to receive assistance to help you pay for a leisure activity for your child during the school year (sports, cultural activity...)? The Caf: titleContent or the MSA: titleContent can give you help with leisure activities. Depending on the department, this help can take different forms: Help with free time, Good leisure, Young leisure package, Card tickets loisirs... We present you with the information you need to know.

The FAC (if you are under the general scheme) or the MSA (if you are under the agricultural scheme) may grant you recreational assistance to help you pay for your child's sports or cultural activities during the school year.

This help can also help you pay for recreational accommodations without accommodation on Wednesdays or during school holidays autumn, winter and spring.

Support for leisure activities can take various forms, such as:

  • Free time assistance, youth leisure package (money paid into your bank account)
  • The leisure tickets card (credit on a rechargeable card)
  • Good leisure activities (check book such as holiday vouchers).

Recreational aid must be used with organizations that have signed an agreement with the CAF or the MSA. This generally includes sports associations, music schools, arts clubs and some leisure centers.

Some Caf or MSA may also offer holiday assistance for children and families. These aids can then be combined with the leisure aid.

Warning

Recreational aid paid by the Cof or the AMM shall be granted within the limits of available funds. This means that once the budget for this aid has been exhausted, the aid can no longer be granted even if you meet the conditions for receiving it.

To be eligible for recreational assistance, you must respect the 3 conditions subsequent :

  • Collect a family benefit paid by the Caf or the MSA
  • Have 1 or more children. There is an award criterion based on the age of the children, but this is specific to each department. In general, assistance is provided for children aged 3 to 16.
  • Have a family quotient generally located between €500 and €850 (amounts are also department-specific).

In general, we have no steps to take.

The Caf or the MSA sends you a certificate of law to inform you that you are benefiting from the leisure assistance. This attestation of law tells you how to use the help with recreational organizations.

HoweverHowever, the FAC or MSA may require you to complete a form to obtain the recreation assistance. This form can be downloaded from the website of your CAF or MSA.

You will then receive an attestation of entitlement to recreational assistance if you meet the conditions for such assistance.

To learn more, you should contact your CAC or MSA or visit their website.

Who shall I contact

The amount of recreational assistance varies depending on your family's income and the number of dependent children within the meaning of income tax.

In addition, for the same situation, the amount may vary from one Cif or MSA to another.

FYI

If your child has a disability, the amount of recreational assistance is higher.

When registering your child for an activity, you must present to the organizer of the activity your certificate of entitlement to recreational assistance. The certificate must be completed and signed by that body.

You must send your certificate back to your CAF or MSA by mail for them to allocate your assistance. You can then pay for your child's activity with the organization.
