Certificate of Residence for Algerian - Retired / Retired Spouse

If you are Algerian and retired, you can obtain, under conditions, a certificate of residence bearing the mention retired. It allows stays of up to 1 year, without having to apply for a visa. Your spouse of Algerian nationality can obtain a certificate of residence mention spouse of pensioner. The procedure differs depending on whether you are in France or abroad. We present you the information to know.

In France

The certificate of residence for Algerian retired or spouse of pensioner allows to enter at any time in France for stays of one maximum duration of 1 year, without having to apply for a visa.

This certificate of residence does not authorize not to work on it.

You are concerned if you fill in the whole the following conditions:

  • Are Algerian
  • Having resided in France with a 10-year certificate of residence
  • Have established (or establish) your habitual residence outside France
  • Receive a retirement pension from a basic French social security scheme.

Your Algerian spouse can obtain a certificate of residence spouse of pensioner if he/she has resided with you in France on a regular basis.

1Submission of the application

You must submit your application for a card to the prefecture (or sub-prefecture) of your home, within 2 months before the end date of validity of your certificate of residence.

If you submit your application after the deadline, except in cases of force majeure or presentation of a valid visa, you will have to pay, in addition to the cost of the card, a visa fee for regularization of €180.

2Documents to be provided

The documents to be provided vary depending on the card requested:

"Retired" card

  • Birth certificate (full copy or extract with parentage)
  • Passport
  • Proof of habitual residence outside France (rent receipt, electricity or gas receipt, etc.) and certificate of habitual residence outside France issued by the municipal authorities of the country of residence
  • Enrollment extract establishing your rights (in the form of a notification) or last tax certificate, issued by the body responsible for your retirement pension (failing which, photocopy of one of these documents)
  • Proof that you have resided regularly in France with a 10-year certificate of residence
  • 3 photo id
  • Statement on the honor of no polygamy in France if you are married and are a national of a country that allows it

FYI  

Civil status documents in a foreign language must be accompanied by their translation into French by a certified translator/interpreter.

While waiting for the investigation of your file, you receive a receipt.

If your prefecture or sub-prefecture has not responded within 4 months, your request for a card is refused.

"Retired spouse" card

  • Birth certificate (full copy or extract with parentage)
  • Marriage certificate (full copy or extract with filiation)
  • Passport
  • Proof of habitual residence outside France (rent receipt, electricity or gas receipt, etc.) and certificate of habitual residence outside France issued by the municipal authorities of the country of residence
  • Proof of your spouse's pensioner status
  • Proof that you have resided regularly in France with your spouse
  • 3 photo id
  • Statement on the honor of no polygamy in France if you are married and are a national of a country that allows it

Civil status documents in a foreign language must be accompanied by their translation into French by a certified translator/interpreter.
