How does a young pregnant woman's schooling work?
Verified 24 February 2026 - Public Service / Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)
If you are in middle or high school and you are pregnant, you can continue your education in your school or at home. Your pregnancy cannot justify your exclusion from a public school. Accommodations (rest time in the infirmary, absence permits for medical consultations) can be granted. We present your rights and who can help you.
If you are pregnant, talk to health and social workers of your school (nurse, doctor, social service assistant of the National Education).
Their role is to listen to you, inform you about your rights and support you in your efforts. They must respect professional secrecy.
You can request accommodations within your school.
You can, for example, get rest time in the infirmary, leave of absence for medical consultations, or get double the textbooks.
You can ask the Dasen: titleContent be exempt from attending your school for medical reasons.
Ask the Dasen for information on how to apply.
If the Dasen allows you to do so, you can follow free of charge your schooling by correspondence, using the courses of the Cned: titleContent.

You may also be allowed to use the toilet during the tests from the first hour.
If childbirth is planned during the examination period, you can take your tests during the remedial session when it exists (for example, the baccalaureate). To do this, you must obtain the authorization of the Dasen: titleContent. Otherwise, you will have to take your exam at the next session.
