Can an elector consult the lists of electors?

Yes, it is possible for an elector to consult the lists of electors. The consultation of the electoral lists allows voters to check the regularity of registrations. For this, the voter must fulfill certain conditions. These conditions vary depending on whether it is listed on the list election of a municipality or on a consular voters list. We explain.

List of a municipality

If you are registered to vote, you can consult:

  • The electoral list of a municipality (by contacting the town hall concerned)
  • The electoral lists of all the communes of a department (by contacting the prefecture concerned).

The list of electors shall be made public at least once a year. Ask the town hall or the prefecture concerned for details.

To consult the lists of electors, you must prove that you are a voter. It is possible to do so by 3 ways :

  • Provide a certificate of registration on the lists of electors
  • Provide your voter card
  • Provide a certificate of honor that mentions your first and last names and the municipality of registration on the electoral rolls.

You must also attach a written attestation certifying that you commit to honor to not to make a commercial use electoral lists.

The on-site consultation of the electoral lists is free of charge.

By post

The request is free.

However, you must pay for shipment.

Depending on the medium of the original list, the list can be given on paper or on CD-ROM. The price you are charged depends on the medium used. It cannot exceed €0.18 per A4 page provided, and €2.75 per CD-ROM provided.

By email

Sending by email is free.

However, this is only possible if the electoral lists are available in this form.

You can request to consult the consular list of electors on which you are registered.

You may be refused or restricted access to your list of electors, if disclosure of the information of registered persons (address, nationality) may compromise their security.

When you submit your request to consult your list of electors, you will fill out an application form.

You will also need submit the following documents :

  • Physical identification (identity card or passport)
  • Copy of the same ID
  • Proof of your registration as an elector on this consular electoral list.
