How do I choose or change an electricity or gas supplier?
Verified 25 September 2026 - Public Service / (Prime Minister)
There are several suppliers of electricity and gas in the energy market. You can use an online service to find a supplier in your municipality:
Find a supplier of electricity and/or natural gas
You can change your electricity or gas supplier as many times as you like. You can also go back to your old supplier. There is no minimum duration of engagement.
The change of supplier is free.
You can choose 2 different suppliers, one for electricity, the other for gas or 1 single supplier for electricity and gas.
To make your choice, you can help yourself with an offer comparator:
Compare electricity and/or natural gas offerings
By changing supplier, you don't change the meter electricity or gas.
Once the contract has been concluded with the new supplier, you have no further steps to take. Termination of your old contract is automatic.
Until the change date, your current supplier will continue to supply you with electricity and/or gas.
In the event of a dispute over the performance of your contract, you must contact your supplier's customer service. The contact details can be found on your contract or invoice.
If the dispute is not resolved, you must make a written complaint with your supplier.
If the dispute still persists, you can refer the matter to the national energy ombudsman free of charge to try to find an amicable solution.
