What are the allowances due to jury members?

Verified 01 January 2026 - Public Service / Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

A juror of assizes is entitled to payment of several compensatory allowances. Some allowances are intended to cover the loss of professional income during the trial period. Others are used to cover the costs of attending the sessions of the Assize Court: meals, travel and accommodation.

As an assize juror, you are entitled to an appearance fee. The amount of this allowance is €102.16 per day.

The attendance allowance is not paid automatically. It must be requested in writing from the imprest account of the court or the Court of Appeal. It must be sent by post or by mail.

Please note

In practice, the application can be sent to the registry of the Assize Court, which in turn will forward it to the imprest account.
