What documents can a Frenchman use to travel to Switzerland?

The conditions for entering Switzerland are different depending on whether you are leaving for more or less than 3 months. If you are traveling with your child or if they are traveling alone, additional documents will be requested.

Less than 3 months

You must have a valid national identity card or passport.

FYI  

If your identity card was issued between 1er January 2004 and December 31, 2013, it shall remain valid for a further 5 years after the expiry date. You can use it to enter Switzerland.

More than 3 months

In case of a stay of more than 3 months in Switzerland, you must apply for a residence permit. To do so, you must contact the Cantonal Migration Office in which you plan to settle. before you leave.
