Can you choose your address on the registration certificate?

No, you cannot choose the address that will appear on your certificate of registration (previously called vehicle registration certificate).

Indeed, the registration certificate must indicate the address of the principal place of residence of holder. You cannot therefore register your vehicle in the department where you own a second home.

You must pay the tax corresponding to the department of your main residence.

The certificate of registration will be sent to this address.

You can however indicate the department of your choice (territorial identifier) on your license plates. It's not necessarily your primary residence.
