Provided for by the Social Security Financing Act for 2024, an experimental device allows the support of adapted physical activity (APA) sessions for people receiving or having received cancer treatment. A decree of 14 April 2026 and an order of 13 May 2026 specify these provisions.

The Social Security Financing Act for 2024 (Article 42) planned, on an experimental basis, the establishment of a pathway including adapted physical activity sessions prescribed by a doctor. This program includes an initial assessment and sessions adapted to the patient's state of health.

Experimentation is deployed in Brittany, New Aquitaine and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur for a period of 2 years.

The number of group sessions of adapted physical activity is limited to 12 sessions over a period of 3 months. The program can be renewed once, or 24 sessions maximum per patient.

As part of the experiment, the care is supervised:

  • €7.50 per session;
  • €45 for the final balance sheet;
  • €15 for coordination by the structure;
  • an overall ceiling of €150 per patient, funded by the Regional Health Agency (RHA).

The device is aimed at patients who have or have had cancer, usually in ALD, on medical prescription. The sessions are conducted by qualified professionals and organized by structures contracted with the ARS, responsible for coordinating the system.

Please note

The sessions and the assessment must be carried out by health professionals and professionals holding a diploma in adapted physical activity under the conditions provided for by the Public Health Code.
