Price increases for electronic travel authorization to the UK

Since April 2025, you must have an electronic travel authorization, called ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization), to travel to the United Kingdom. You must have a valid biometric passport. This authorization is valid for 2 years (and for a maximum of 6 months per visit).

The ETA price is currently around €18 (£16) and will pass, as of april 8, 2026, about €23 (£20). An increase to finance the modernization of the border control system, says the UK government.

The purchase of the ETA is made on official UK application UK ETA, available on gov.uk (website in English).

Its acquisition is validated after 2 to 3 days, so it is recommended to anticipate its purchase. You do not receive a document, the process is automatically recorded and linked to your passport that you will present during the check.

Warning  

Check the site where you buy your ETA; it must be that of the British Government (in English). The cost of the ETA must not exceed that indicated on this official website.

Please note

ETA is mandatory for French citizens (adults, children and babies) and for nationals of countries that have signed a visa waiver agreement to enter the United Kingdom, even in case of transit.
