Travel to China: Visa waiver extended for short stays

China has announced that it is extending until the end of 2026 its visa-free policy for certain countries, including France. Public Service Reminds you of the formalities if you plan to go to China.

Since 1er In December 2023, China granted a unilateral visa waiver to French passport holders. Extended until the end of 2025, this exemption will finally be valid until 31 December 2026.

French citizens can stay in China up to 30 days without visa requirement, for business, tourism, visiting family and friends, transit and exchanges. Beyond a period of 30 days, a visa is required in addition to a valid passport.

45 countries are concerned by this visa waiver: Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Switzerland and Uruguay.
