What extra costs if you don't have a Linky meter?

Didn't settle a Linky meter in your accommodation? Did you know that from 1er august 2025, you will have additional charges on your electricity bill? Service-Public.fr informs you about the changes.

The Energy Ombudsman communicated on 10 July on the changes that will take place from 1er August 2025 for households that do not have a Linky meter.

If you have not replaced your old meter with a Linky meter, an additional fee will be charged on your electricity bill.

Every 2 months, you will be charged the following amounts:

  • one fixed amount of 6,48 € HT corresponding to the “specific management” of your old generation meter;
  • additional costs of € 4.14 excluding tax, only if you have not submitted your consumption indexes to Enedis for more than a year. You must perform this index reading at least once a year, yourself or by opting for a survey by a technician at your home.

Reminder

The Linky meter has been deployed throughout the country for several years by the electricity distribution system operator (Enedis), replacing old generation meters. It records the consumption in real time and transmits it to the distributor. The invoices are thus established on the basis of the actual consumption of the user. The cost of installing a Linky meter is borne by the operator.
