Following the publication of the decree of 11 september 2026, for insured persons who do not benefit from an exemption, the total amount remaining to be covered by medical deductibles and lump-sum contributions may now be up to €140 per year, against 100 € before.

What increase for the medical deductible ceiling?

The medical deductible is an amount that remains at your expense after the reimbursement of the Health Insurance. It applies in particular to medicines, procedures performed by medical assistants (nurses, physiotherapists, etc.) and medical transport.

The amount of the deductible is:

  • €1 per pack of medicines;
  • 1 € by paramedical act;
  • €4 by sanitary transport.

There is a daily limit, i.e. you cannot deduct more than €4 per day for paramedical procedures and €8 per day for medical transport.

Finally, there is an annual ceiling of €50 per person each calendar year (from 1 January to 31 December) for all the acts or services concerned. It's this ceiling which has just been raised to 70 € from October 1, 2026.

Lump-sum contributions: what changes

The flat-rate contribution is a sum deducted from the reimbursements of the Health Insurance for certain medical consultations or procedures, radiological examinations and medical biological analyses. It is 2 € per biology procedure, per doctor, or per consultation (up to a limit of 8 € per day for the same health professional).

Currently, the total amount of lump-sum contributions cannot exceed €50 per year. From October 1, 2026, this annual ceiling shall be increased to €70.

Who is exempt from medical deductibles and lump sum contributions?

Medical deductibles and lump-sum contributions do not apply to:

  • children and young people under the age of 18;
  • beneficiaries of complementary solidarity-based health;
  • to pregnant women from 1er day of 6e months of pregnancy and until 12e  day after delivery;
  • minors for contraception and emergency contraception without parental consent;
  • to the victims of an act of terrorism, for health costs related to the event.

FYI

From January 1, 2028, the annual ceilings for medical deductibles and lump-sum contributions will be increased each year in line with inflation.
