Pesticide application near homes: what new rules?

The rules on the use of pesticides near inhabited areas have just been clarified by two texts published in the Official Journal of 26 January 2022. These texts follow a decision of the Conseil d'État of 26 July 2021 which had partially annulled the previously applicable regulatory texts.

The Decree of 25 January 2022 on the use of plant protection products near residential areas amends the procedures for drawing up and adopting the departmental charters of commitments referred to in paragraph III of Article L253-8 of the Rural and Maritime Fisheries Code. These charters may allow farmers to obtain derogations from the minimum distances to be respected in relation to dwellings (read more about Vie-publique.fr).
