Transition to winter time

Every year, in October, the transition to winter time occurs. It will be necessary to think about moving your watches back one hour in the night from Saturday 24 to Sunday 25 October 2026.

The time change was introduced in France following the 1973-74 oil shock. Since 1998, the dates for changing the time have been harmonized within the In all Member States, the transition to winter time takes place on the last Sunday in October and the transition to summer time on the last Sunday in March.

Reminder

In March 2019, MEPs voted to abolish the seasonal time change, with implementation in 2021. But the end of the time change was then postponed due in particular to the Covid-19 health crisis. This text on the end of the time change is no longer on the agenda.
