Transition to winter time

Every year, in October, there is a switch to winter time. It will be necessary to think about moving your watches back one hour in the night from Saturday 25 to Sunday 26 October 2025.

The time change was introduced in France following the 1973-74 oil shock. Since 1998, time change dates have been harmonized within the European Union. In all Member States, the transition to winter time takes place on the last Sunday in October and the transition to summer time on the last Sunday in March.

Reminder

In March 2019, MEPs voted to abolish the seasonal time change, with an application in 2021. But the end of the time change was then postponed due in particular to the Covid-19 health crisis. This text on the end of the time change is no longer on the agenda.
