The draft budget law was presented to the Council of Ministers on 26 September 2022 by Bruno Le Maire, Minister of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, and Gabriel Attal, Minister Delegate, in charge of Public Accounts.

The 2023 draft budget (PLF) aims to safeguard households and support companies in the midst of the energy and price crises, while containing public spending to stabilize the government deficit at 5 percent of GDP in both 2022 and 2023. In 2023, the government budget deficit would shrink by €14 billion, to €158 billion.

This draft budget is part of the 2023-2027 draft law on multi-annual public finance programming, presented at the same time. (Read more about the article).
